Can you tell me about growing up in the family business?
Growing up in the family business was very interesting. My father worked a lot, 7 days a week, so he wasn't always around. However, when I started to work in the store and saw how happy customers were when my father made something they loved, I found it really enjoyable. Back then, our store was a lot smaller, but there was a real sense of community. My father knew everyone who walked in the door, even if he didn't know them. To me, it was a simpler time.
How did your parents influence the way you do business today?
My father taught me that we sell love and happiness. Our business is all about serving our clients at times of great joy and excitement. He instilled in me a great work ethic - that the customer always comes first and that you need to look after your business if you want to become successful.
Who has been the strongest influence in your life?
My parents have been the strongest influence in my life, no question about it. They gave me the tools and the drive to succeed in everything I do. Plus, there was no choice but to work in the jewellery industry!
What is your favourite part of your role at Dracakis Jewellers?
Customer service is definitely the best part of my role. Seeing the smiles on my customers' faces and being able to create something that they will love and cherish forever is incredibly rewarding. Designing a piece of jewellery from start to finish is also really fulfilling.
What are you most proud of?
When we took over the business from my parents when they retired, and we opened our third store, I was really proud of the growth we achieved in such a short period of time. The acknowledgement from my parents and my father made it all worth it.
What is your vision for the future of your brand?
In the near future, I would like to open a few more stores and consolidate our position in the market as a leading jeweller, while still keeping it a family business. I want to continue to provide our clients with the highest quality service and products, while also staying at the forefront of the industry.
